Richard has over 50 years’ experience in the Silk industry, setting up Humphries Weaving at the age of just 20. Following his bid to restore old Jacquard looms and equipment to reweave sumptuous silk fabrics he was awarded an MBE for services to the Textile Industry in 1985. In 2016/17 Richard had the honour of serving as the 883rd Upper Bailiff of the Worshipful Company of Weavers, London’s first recorded and oldest City Livery.
